Product Guide
LUXE K IPL Hair Removal Device
The LUXE K uses IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) to target the pigment in your hair follicles, gradually reducing regrowth. With built-in sapphire ice-cooling, 5 intensity levels and both manual and automatic glide modes, you can treat everything from your upper lip to your legs at home, comfortably. New to IPL? Start with the patch test below — it's not optional.

Patch test first — before your very first use
Do a patch test on each area you plan to treat. Pick a small spot near the area, shave and clean it, power on (it starts on level 1), press the device flat to the skin and fire one flash. Wait 24 hours — if there's no adverse reaction, you're good to treat that area.
Quick start (your first session)
-
Shave & clean
Shave the area. Skin must be clean, dry and free of creams, oils, makeup or aloe gel — anything left on the skin blocks the light.
-
Power on
Plug in the adapter, connect it to the device, then press and hold the power button for 3 seconds. It starts on level 1 in manual mode, and the cooling fan begins to run.
-
Choose your level
Short-press the power button to cycle through the 5 intensity levels. Start on 1–2 for your first sessions and build up to 3–5 as your skin adjusts. Higher levels give better results.
-
Treat the area
Press the light head flat against your skin — the contact sensor only fires when it's in full contact. Flash, move to the next spot, and repeat across the area.
-
Cover the area properly
Aim to flash each area about 3 times per session, but never flash the exact same spot 3 times in a row. Do a full pass, then go back over it.
-
Afterwards
Mild redness, warmth or tingling is normal and fades quickly. Wait 2 hours before applying lotions, deodorant or makeup, then moisturise and use SPF. To switch off, hold the power button for 3 seconds and unplug.
How the modes & levels work
The two buttons
| Button | Short press | Long press (3s) |
|---|---|---|
| Power | Change intensity level (1→5) | Turn device on / off |
| Firing | Single flash (on skin) | Toggle automatic glide mode |
| Both together | — | Toggle ice-cooling on / off |
Intensity levels
Five settings, 1 lowest to 5 highest. Start low and work up — higher levels give better results without harming the skin, but build up as your skin adapts.
Manual vs automatic mode
Manual (default): one flash per press — best for precise areas like the upper lip, chin and bikini line. Automatic glide: hold the firing button for 3 seconds off the skin to switch on, then glide slowly as it flashes continuously — best for legs and arms.
Ice-cooling
Press the power and firing buttons together to toggle the sapphire cooling. Use it during treatment for comfort or afterwards to soothe the skin. When cooling on its own, switch to single-click mode and glide gently — don't press the firing button while cooling.
Will it work for me? (skin tone & hair colour)
IPL works by being absorbed by melanin — the pigment in your hair. Dark hair is rich in eumelanin (brown-black pigment) and absorbs the light well. Light blonde, red, grey and white hair has too little for the light to target, so IPL won't give results on them. It also needs contrast between hair and skin: on very dark skin the skin itself absorbs the light, which isn't safe.

✓ suitable · ✗ not suitable
A box is ✗ for one of two reasons. Pale hair (light blonde, red, grey, white) hasn't enough pigment to target, so it won't give results — but it's harmless. The two darkest skin tones (Brown and Deep brown, Types V–VI) aren't safe to treat, because the skin absorbs too much of the light. This mirrors the comparison card supplied in your box. If your skin is very dark, a clinic-based Nd:YAG laser is the route to ask about, not home IPL.
Treatment schedule (what to expect)
For best results, treat consistently — hair grows in cycles, so it takes several sessions to see the full effect.
| Weeks | How often | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| 1–4 | 2–3 times per week | Hair becomes thinner and less noticeable |
| 5–6 | 2 times per week | Visible new hair loss and reduced growth |
| 7–8 | 1 time per week | Over 75% reduction in hair growth |
| Week 8+ | 1–2 times per week as needed | Maintenance, based on regrowth |
Keep going for at least 6 months for lasting results.
Care & maintenance
- Before each use: wipe the light outlet and filter with a cotton swab or cloth lightly dampened with medical alcohol. Make sure it's dry before firing.
- After each use: turn off, unplug and let it cool. Clean the filter and skin-contact plate with a little water or medical alcohol, then dry thoroughly.
- Don't spray alcohol directly into the light outlet — dampen the cloth instead.
- Small black spots on the filter? Just wipe with alcohol — they don't affect performance.
- Not waterproof — never use in the bathroom or shower.
- Store somewhere dry and dust-free, between 0°C and 60°C, away from strong magnets.
- Avoid knocks and drops.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Device or adapter feels warm | Normal | No action needed. |
| “Ready” light won't come on, fan still running | Overheat protection | Leave it on and wait 15 minutes to cool, then carry on. |
| Won't power on | Power not connected | Check the cord is connected at both ends. |
| Unpleasant smell | Dirty filter / accessories | Clean accessories carefully with medical alcohol. |
| Discomfort or pain | Hair not shaved, or level too high | Shave fully first; drop to a comfortable level. |
| Filter looks damaged | Damaged filter | Stop using immediately. |
| Disappointing results | Level too low, areas missed, or unsuitable hair colour | Increase the level; treat areas closely; check the compatibility chart; stay consistent for 6+ months. |
Safety essentials
- Never look directly at the flash. Use the included goggles if you're sensitive to bright light.
- Don't block the air inlet/outlet during use — the device needs airflow to cool.
- Don't apply gel-based cosmetics to the skin during treatment — they can damage the device.
- Avoid light-sensitive foods (citrus, fennel, celery) during a treatment course.
- Darker skin tones may have delayed reactions — go slow and watch your skin over the following 24 hours.
- Don't use if pregnant, breastfeeding or menstruating; on broken skin, tattoos or moles; or on skin tanned or sun-exposed in the past 2 weeks.

Frequently asked questions
Does the LUXE K work on grey, white, blonde or red hair?
No. IPL works best on light to medium skin tones with dark hair. The light needs melanin (dark pigment) in the hair to be effective, so it will not work on white, grey, blonde, or red hair, as these lack sufficient melanin. If you have very dark skin, please check the skin tone comparison card included with the device before use. This is a limitation of all IPL devices, not just the LUXE K.
How long before I see results?
Most customers with suitable hair and skin types notice slower regrowth within 2–4 weeks of consistent use (2–3 sessions per week). By weeks 7–8, you can expect over 75% hair growth reduction. After that, occasional maintenance sessions keep the results going.
Can I use it on my face and bikini area?
Yes. The LUXE K is suitable for the upper lip, chin, jawline, underarms, bikini line, legs, arms, and other body areas. For the face, only use it below the cheekbones. Never use IPL near your eyes. Safety goggles are included for added protection.
Is it safe to use at home?
Yes. The device has a built-in skin contact sensor that only allows it to flash when the light head is fully pressed against your skin. Safety goggles are included. Always perform a patch test 24 hours before your first full treatment, and avoid use on recently tanned skin, broken skin, or tattoos.
How often should I use the LUXE K?
Treat 2–3 times per week for the first 4 weeks, drop to twice a week in weeks 5–6, then once a week in weeks 7–8. From week 8 onwards, use it 1–2 times a week as needed for maintenance. Allow at least 6 months of consistent use for lasting results.
Why isn't my IPL device giving results?
The usual causes are: the intensity is set too low (build up to levels 3–5 as your skin adjusts), areas are being missed (treat closely so no patches are skipped), the hair wasn't shaved first, or the hair colour isn't suitable (light blonde, grey, or red hair won't respond). IPL also takes time and consistency — keep going for at least 6 months, as hair regrows in cycles.
Can I use it after tanning or sun exposure?
No. Avoid IPL if you have been in direct sunlight or used a tanning bed in the past 2 weeks, and don't use it on recently tanned skin. After each treatment, moisturise, apply sunscreen, and avoid sun exposure and tanning for at least 2 weeks.
Can I use it on tattoos or moles?
No. Avoid flashing directly over tattoos, moles, or broken skin. Treat around them instead. The IPL light is absorbed by pigment, so it should never be used on tattooed or heavily pigmented areas.
The device feels warm, or a light won't come on. Is it broken?
Usually not. The device and adapter getting warm during use is normal. If the “ready” light won't come on but the fan is still running, the overheat protection has kicked in — leave the device on and wait 15 minutes for it to cool, then carry on. If it won't power on at all, check the power cord is properly connected at both ends.
